Event Erotic Art Week opens on 23rd June and runs through 2nd July, 2009 and is the first of its kind to be held in T&T or the Caribbean. The season includes two visual arts exhibitions, one spoken word and poetry event, a film and video showing, seminars and artists talks and the production of an hour-long documentary on the whole process. The event aims to engage artists and audiences in unveiling, exploring and interpreting impressions of our own Erotica Caribbeana.
Objective To engage art in exposing ourselves, honestly, to ourselves. To educate, enlighten and stimulate those who engage the arts by opening up the discussion around what erotica is or might be, in all its forms, in the context of contemporary T&T and Caribbean life.
History The NoSnow Collaborative operates as a division of FirsTTfloor Studios Limited. The Division was founded to produce art and media events that educate enlighten and excite makers, viewers, and reviewers of art and in so doing adds new layers of creativity, discovery and discourse to the arts continuum and the evolution our Caribbean civilisation.
We The working group for Erotic Art Week is a team who have all worked in different areas of art and design: Christian Alexis and Richard Rawlins, graphic designers; Dave Williams, choreographer/writer; and Terry Smith, architect. Designer Amanda Rust is the patron of Erotic Art Week, our first major project.

Hello,
My name is Patricia Grannum and I am a Caribbean born freelance journalist currently based in Ottawa Canada. I am interested in doing an in depth article on the upcoming Erotic Art Week coming up in Trinidad and Tobago. I was wondering if you could help me with a few questions I had.
What inspired you to launch Erotic Art Week?
Can you tell me what the reaction has been since you started to tell people about the event? Have there been any negative reactions thus far.
What is the difference between erotic art and pornography? Why do people tend to confuse the two?
My email address is patricia.grannum@gmail.com. Feel free to contact me with your answers and any questions you may have for me. Also, you can check out my blog at http://womanofcolour.blogspot.com
Thanks in advance

Hi Patricia,
Sent a complete response to your e-mail. But I think some the response to this particular was interesting to share.
Q: The difference between erotica and pornography?
A: That's what we hope to really engage in T&T. We sent out a call to artist for work and we've been receiving some interesting pieces. The overall theme for the event is "Open". 'cause we really don't know what will come our way. But I think that porn is something that's used or participated in to gratify a sexual urge, while erotica is the stuff that stimulates that urge - the stuff that may have little or nothing to do with the actual act, but which put your mind right in the middle of it. Very easy to confuse and even harder to precisely explain.
